Richard 'Richie B' Burgess, renowned radio personality and founder of the prestigious Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) Awards, envisioned an authentic and dedicated awards ceremony for Jamaican music and entertainment, fashioned after the famed Grammy Awards, with grandeur and pageantry characteristic of such an awards ceremony. His vision has come to fruition.

A noted 'Market Leader' in this industry, Richie B has founded, hosted and produced many similar events which have garnered unwavering popularity and support, including charity events, where proceeds have been donated to address identified needs within various communities. The Buff Bay Police Station and his alma maters, Bybrook All Age School and Tichfield High School, are among the beneficiaries of his efforts.

Since its inception in 2005, as a small 'in studio' production, The EME Awards has also gained unwavering support and popularity, becoming a much larger and recognized event on Jamaica's entertainment calendar. Over 85% of the awardees were in attendance for the 2008 production, a first for any local awards production. This is a clear indication of the respect the industry has for this event, motivating us to continue to improve the product.

The EME Awards, a non-profit venture, is designed to recognise excellence within our music and entertainment industries. It is our hope that it will motivate all in this 'World of Reggae', to aspire to achieve greatness, knowing that the success achieved will assist in preserving this valuable aspect of our nation's development.

The prestigious Excellence In Music and Entertainment (EME)  Awards is back and this year’s
staging of the event will be  on Thursday February 4, at the Gardens at the Jamaica Pegasus
Hotel, <st1:address>

</st1:address>. The EME Awards is the brain child of popular radio personality Richard 'Richie B' Burgess. He
created this award show to honor the players in the local music industry, both past and present, for
their hard work in creating and maintaining excellence within our rich musical culture. The EME
Awards is a non-profit venture.
Since its humble beginnings back in  2005, as a small in studio production, the Excellence In
Music  and Entertainment (EME) Awards has grown to become one of the most eagerly anticipated
events on the local entertainment calendar , due primarily,to its high production standards. The
EME  Awards has  garnered unwavering support and popularity through the years and has
attracted coverage from both the local and international media. Last year, the presence of <st1:country-region>

</st1:country-region>’s  
BETJ
 Channel, provided quite a fillip for the EMEs and their repeat airings of the event has 
definitely added to the excitement both here and abroad.  Over 85% of the awardees were in
